 HOW CODEINE, TRAMADOL , AMPHETAMINES, MARIJUANA,ROHYPNOL, OTHERS, KILL!.

  Case Number One: CODEINE.

  WHAT IS CODEINE?

 " Codeine, one of the most commonly used opioid narcotics in the world, is a relatively short-acting analgesic, with most effects lasting a few hours. It’s in the same class of intoxicants as heroin, but is found in common cough medicines and other relatively mild medications. It can be used for the treatment of pain and diarrhea and as a cough suppressant..."

  WHY CODEINE IS ABUSED.

. " In addition to pain relief, in higher doses codeine can lead to a pleasurable euphoric sensation. When opiates enter the central nervous system, they activate the reward system of the brain, allowing for excessive release of pleasurable hormones. It is this feeling that codeine addicts crave."

 SIDE EFFECTS OF CODEINE.

 * Common side effects from codeine include:

Rapid heartbeat, Dry mouth, Vision changes, Sweating, Headache, Drowsiness or fatigue, Dizziness, Nausea, vomiting, constipation, or other abdominal changes

 * More serious side effects include:

Weak pulse, Low blood pressure, Shallow or depressed breathing, Mood or cognitive changes, Mental disturbances, including aggression, agitation, confusion, or hallucinations, Intestinal blockage, Cardiac arrest, Stopped breathing, Seizures, Coma

   WHAT IS CODEINE WITHDRAWAL LIKE?

Codeine withdrawal is similar to withdrawal from other narcotic drugs.

Symptoms include:Agitation, restlessness, and irritability, Anxiety, Panic attacks, Depression, Insomnia, Watery eyes, Runny nose, Joint aches and muscle pain, Yawning, Sweating, Diarrhea, Stomach cramps, Dilated pupils, Nausea or vomiting, Goose bumps

Case Number Two: TRAMADOL..

 What is TRAMADOL?

 * Tramadol is an opiate agonist that alters the way the user’s body and systems feel pain, and relief is provided for moderate to severe pain.

It is a prescription-only pain medication that can be given as a tablet, extended-release tablet or a capsule, and it’s for use as an around-the-clock way to treat pain.

How TRAMADOL Works.

Tramadol is effective because it increases levels of norepinephrine and serotonin in the brain, and some brand name drugs with Tramadol such as Ultracet, also have acetaminophen.

What Are the "Psychedelic" Effects of Tramadol?

   There is a range of effects that can occur when someone uses this drug, both intended and unintended.

 One of the first signs someone is on tramadol can include an enhanced mood, and it’s that effect that leads to abuse of the drug. When someone is on Tramadol,

  * they may feel a sense of euphoria or extreme calm,

  * as well as an increased sense of well-being. * You may also know someone is on tramadol if they have a lack of inhibition.

   HOW TO GUESS SOMEONE IS ON TRAMADOL.

It’s important to recognize the signs of tramadol abuse as early as possible to prevent an addiction from developing.

    External signs of tramadol abuse include:

Pinpoint (very small) pupils.

Changes in appetite, Nausea or vomiting, Drowsiness, Seizures (without a history of epilepsy), Slurred speech, Headaches, Impaired coordination "

  COMMON SIDE EFFECTS OF TRAMADOL.

Some of the potential adverse effects of this drug include:

  Dizziness, Weakness, Being very drowsy, Insomnia, Headache, The shakes, Panic attacks, Nausea and vomiting, Diarrhea, Constipation, Itching, Sweating, Dry mouth,...

 More severe potential side effects of this opioid... may include problems breathing, seizures, hives, hallucinations, and swelling of the face and throat.

 TRAMADOL TOLERANCE ,&' OVERDOSE..

The trouble with Tramadol is that the more it charges the body, the more the body tolerates it, and the more the body needs more Tramadol to produce the effects the user craves for. This means it is addictive. And that is why many users go well above dosages that their doctors once prescribed. Tramadol may be a nice pain killer, but it increases the feeding of and quest for euphoria. This is especially so because it reduces the feeling of anxiety leading the user into a trip or voyage to illusion..."

 How TRAMADOL Kills.

 Signs of a tramadol overdose can include minuscule pupils, slow or labored breathing, marked drowsiness, skin that feels cold or clammy to the touch, seizures, and loss of consciousness.

 Case Number Three: ILLICIT DRUGS.(MARIJUANA, Amphetamines, Cocaine, LSD, Rohypnol, Heroin,etc.

 What are Illicit Drugs?

  Illicit drugs are Drugs that are not used legally for the treatment of any sicknesses or diseases.

 Also called Illegal Drugs, or Banned Drugs.

  HOW ILLICIT DRUGS CAUSE HAVOC.

 " The changes that drugs make to the brain are long-lasting and damaging, overtaking everything else in the user’s life. Eventually, it becomes difficult to stop using illicit drugs without professional help.

  THEIR EFFECTS ON THE BRAIN & BODY.

When a person takes an illicit drug, the chemical floods the brain’s reward circuit with dopamine. The reward circuit controls feelings of pleasure that naturally come from life-sustaining habits such as eating and sleeping. Drugs create a high that mimics these feelings, leading to users taking more and more of the same or similar substance.

 TOLERANCE & DEPENDENCE.

  Eventually, the brain becomes tolerant to the drug and needs larger quantities of the substance to achieve the same high. The user is then unable to experience feelings of pleasure in anything except the drug, creating addiction. …"

The commonest here are Marijuana, Cocaine, Amphetamines, Benzodiazepines(eg Rohypnol), etc.

   MARIJUANA.

Regular marijuana users most often started during their adolescence. The perceptions of marijuana use among teens is changing; most high school seniors do not think smoking marijuana occasionally carries any risk. More than 20 percent of teens report having used marijuana at least once in the past month... But marijuana is almost as deadly as cocaine..."

 COCAINE & AMPHETAMINES.

  ".. Cocaine and amphetamines are common drugs that are often abused in Nigeria by the youths. Historically, amphetamines has been used to treat nasal congestion and depression. It is also used as an athletic performance enhancer and cognitive enhancer, and recreationally as an aphrodisiac and euphoriant. It is a prescription drug in many countries, and unauthorised possession and distribution of amphetamine are often tightly controlled due to the significant health risks associated with its recreational use..."

 Both Cocaine and Amphetamine are banned drugs in Nigeria.

DEADLY DRUG COMBINATIONS.

 * Codeine with Alcohol.

Codeine is most often mixed with alcohol or marijuana. Due to the fact that alcohol and codeine are both depressants, taking them at the same time can result in dangerous respiratory depression. This can lead to brain damage, coma, and even death.

 * CODEINE WITH MARIJUANA.

Marijuana tends to be more unpredictable, but psychological effects of both cannabis and codeine can exacerbate each other and cause panic or severe depression.

   * TRAMADOL WITH CODEINE

Combining tramadol with other substances to increase its effects is also abuse.

At parties or some other joints of young people, they mix whole bottles of Codeine with Tramadol and other Opioids in various actions to produce various knock-out drinks.

  * "PUNCH DRINKS.

EPILOGUE :

   Ecclesiastes Chapter 12 (Good News Bible)

 * 1. So remember your Creator while you are still young, ...

  * 2 That is when the light of the sun, the moon, and the stars will grow dim for you,...

  3 Then your arms, that have protected you, will tremble, and your legs, now strong, will grow weak.

... Your teeth will be too few to chew your food, and your eyes too dim to see clearly.

  * 4 Your ears will be deaf to the noise of the street. You will barely be able to hear the mill as it grinds or music as it plays,......

  * 5.... Your hair will turn white; you will hardly be able to drag yourself along, and all desire will be gone....

 13 After all this, there is only one thing to say: Have reverence for God, and obey his commands, because this is all that we were created for.

   14 God is going to judge everything we do, whether good or bad, even things done in secret.". Ecclesiastes 12: 1--14.{GNB}
